J.G.: Part 3 -- A New Name
The #53 Hen grew tired of the garden after a few days. On her ventures around the farm, she discovered a better place: the goat paddock and stall.
It provided bits of spilled grain, shelter, plenty of manure to scratch, and, best of all, a goat friend named Jake.
Within weeks, she’d made a nest underneath the goat’s hay feeder.
“Jake has a girlfriend,” my husband announced one night when he returned from evening chores.
The name Jake’s Girlfriend was shortened to J.G., and the hen was no longer called #53.
