Teen Chicks Venture Out
Chicks hatched by hens learn to scratch and roam the world by Day 2.
Chicks hatched by the incubator learn sometime in Month 3. That’s when they’re big enough to defend themselves from cats, and when the hawks no longer think they’d make an easy entrée.
Until then, the young birds live inside the coop, only viewing the outside world through the chicken wire.
